Our profession lost a company, and some are happy? I don't get it!

Our profession lost a company, and some are happy? I don't get it!

Hey gang! Today I heard about a network marketing company that went out of business. I found the news distressing, but what was even worse was all the chatter around the internet actually celebrating the company’s demise. People were actually happy that others in our profession had lost their company, their investment and, in some cases most likely, their hopes for a better life. I ask you, is this something to be happy about?sneering Our profession lost a company, and some are happy? I don't get it!

NO. Network marketers are not in competition with one another. Our only competition is ourselves and our dedication to our profession. To see others fail is a failure for us all. We are not here just to build up our own organizations, but to foster better public recognition and appreciation for network marketing as a whole. That’s how we all succeed. And believe you me, there’s plenty of room at the proverbial “top” for us all.

In a recent post I said that when we saw someone else in our organization or even in another having problems, that we should reach out and try to build them up, share our experiences and ideas for their success. Be that pep squad that we all need now and again. It helps that person more than you know and it helps yourself. If you believe in positive energy then delighting in the failures of others, or Schadenfreude as they say in Germany, goes directly against that positive energy and will certainly bring you and your organization down.

I may use the phrase “Give someone an AWESOME day” a lot, but that’s because I know how really important it is. You give someone an AWESOME day and voila! You get one in return. What a rush! But if you gloat about the misfortunes of others, and in this case all the good folks who will now have to start looking for new opportunities, then voila once again. You get knocked down a rung or two on the ladder of success.

So what do you say we put away all the gossip and negativity about other companies and concentrate on making our own the very best they can be?

Am I preaching? I don’t think so. Lessons like this are as important a part of network marketing training as any other. Even more so if you transfer them into your daily like outside our profession.

  1. Casey,
What a great post. I was saddened to hear about the company and can’t imagine how difficult it is for those who worked hard to build teams and generate income.

I hope that the people impacted are able to find the support they need at this time.

    • Rebecca~~ I know right? It is about who WE are when others are going through tough times! I always love your energy!

  2. Casey,

I really appreciate you taking the time to write this. Caring about one another, whether it’s fellow network marketers, friends, family or people we work with, is something we should be doing every single day!

Maybe people are making fun of others because they are scared this is going to happen to them & this is the way they react.

And then of course we all know that when one person starts these conversations it’s easier for everyone else to jump right in rather than stand out in the crowd. If we want to succeed in life we need to be different & be the best person that we can be.

Life is so much better when we care about each other & as you always say “Give Someone (Each Other) an Awesome Day”!

    • Thanks Marion~~ I could not have said it better myself! Enjoy the day!

  3. GREAT ARTICLE CASEY!!! YOUR THE BEST!!!
What happened to Jim Rohn saying help other people get what they want in life and you will get what you want;;;;; is that what you want??!! To be happy seeing another company closing its doors?!?!? Come on everybody!! the main problem we have in MLM is GREED & EGO… of peole can just put that aside and truly help your fellow man MLM would be great!!! Like Casey says……give someone an awsome day!!! Dont just read that sentence but truly follow it!! Take care everybody and have an awsome day!!! VICTOR CARDI
    AKA 10,000 pound tongue……

    • Funny thing Victor, I was thinking about Jim Rohn while I was writing this. Sometimes I think ego is what takes most good companies down. I wish I was wrong but I have never heard of a company going away because of the reps. Thanks for your comments!

  4. I think it’s a terrible shame that others would be happy about something like this. For many, this could have been their only source of income. What’s so great about that? Why would you be happy about this? You’re glad you have less competition and you might get some new recruits into your own company? That’s just not right. It’s sad to see anyone lose their business and source of income, as well as probably something that they have a lot of fun with. What if you loved scrapbooking and all of sudden someone said you couldn’t do it anymore? That would stink, right?

My condolences go out to anyone that is really hurt by this. We’re here to support each other in our businesses, even if they’re competition. We’re all “sisters” in network marketing/direct sales. We’re all out for the same thing….success, and when someone suddenly has the rug yanked out from under them, that’s very hard to deal with sometimes.

Thanks for sharing this post. It’s great to see that there are others that think like I do and support everyone in their trials and successes.

Best wishes and God bless to all,

    • Chris~~ Thank you so much. I hope not too many people were hurt but it just kills me that there are some really great people that are going to get the chance to start fresh and new. Thank you so much for your comments!!

  5. Casey it is truly sad when others get excited over others downfalls. I know it’s great to be proud and think you have the best out there. We have to remember these are people not just a Company. They have had all their hard work, time and Dreams Crushed. We need to build them up and help them not give up those Dreams. Show them how they have learned from it and carry that on to their next business or venture.

    • Thank you so much Martha~~ It really only matters who I am in the situation. I can only hope some of these great people do not give up on the best business on the planet!
